As he and his colleagues are on their way to the hot springs on the outskirts of the city, they are ambushed by other members of the coal cooperative who want more control of the cargo. Kingoro is injured but is saved by Okyo, a woman tattooist who gives him shelter. It is love at first sight. He gets a Rising Dragon tattoo by her on his arm. He wants her to be with him but she’s unwilling to leave her life as a tattooist. As Kingoro’s wounds heal, he must fight the rebelling coal factions to end this dispute once and for all.
